SABLA scheme is in launched in five districts in Jammu and Kashmir in total 44 ICDS Projects namely: Anantnag, Kupwara, Kathua, Jammu, Leh (Ladakh) in year 2011.
SABLA scheme is a comprehensive scheme formed merging two existing schemes:
Nutrition Programme for adolescent Girls (NPAG).
Kishori Shakti Yojana (KSY).
Main objectives of the scheme:
To empower adolescent girls by upgrading their home-based, life and vocational skills and make them self dependent.
To improve the living standard of adolescent girls by raising their health and nutrition status.
To educate adolescent girls about health, hygiene, adolescent reproductive and sexual health (ARSH), family and child care and provide information about existing Public Services such as Banks, Post Office, Police stations, Primary Health centres and Community Health Centers etc.
To mainstream out‐of‐school AGs into formal/non formal‐education.
There are two major components under the scheme:
Nutrition Component:
11-14 years AGs : out of school girls
14-18 years AGs : all girls
Non-nutrition Component:
For out of school AGs:
a) 11-18 years
i) Nutrition provision
ii) IFA supplementation
iii) Health check-up and referral services
iv) Nutrition and Health Education (NHE)
v) Counseling/guidance on family welfare, ARSH, Child care practices
vi) Life skill education and accessing public services
b) 16-18 years
To provide vocational training to girls under national skill development programme (NSDP)
For school going AGs of 11-18 years, the services at (2a) will be provided twice a month in school days and four times a month in vacations.
Mode of implementation:
To be implemented using ICDS Platform, Anganwadi Centres functionaries, monitoring system.
