JKEDI is an organization which aims to identify, nurture, support and grow the talents so
that it brings new business leaders in the society to reduce unemployment and boost
economic growth of state as well the country.

JKEDI has been established by the Government of Jammu and
Kashmir in March 1997 to effectively enable entrepreneurship development in the
state.
JKEDI started its regular activities from February 2004 and has positioned itself as
a learning centre par excellence with state of the art regional centers across
Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
JKEDI Community
Organisers are in all of the 22 districts enabling entrepreneurship and promoting development at the grassroots.
JKEDI professionals work at the grassroots to create enterprise
awareness and readiness among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
COURSES OFFERED BY
JKEDI:
DIPLOMA
IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Duration:
Six Months, full-time.
Eligibility:
Graduate in any faculty within the age group of 21-30 years.
Selection:
Based on proof of educational qualifications and experience as well as an
aptitude test.
Program
Details: The Diploma in Entrepreneurship is a residential course, designed for
students who want to start their own ventures. The program is designed as a
basic management program covering functional areas of management with
conceptual and quantitative inputs.
Intake
Capacity: The intake capacity for the program is 30 (two sessions per year;
March and September).
Course
Fee: Rs. 5000/-
Focus:
The programme inputs are both functional and developmental. The study material
covers areas like business opportunity identification and guidance, market
assessment, project report preparation, small business management and sources
of assistance to facilitate the learner in implementing the business.

SCHEMES & PROJECTS UNDER JKEDI
SEED CAPITAL FUND SCHEME
In order to address the
problems of Domestic Entrepreneurs the State Entrepreneurship Development
Institute (JKEDI) under “Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for
the Youth (SKEWPY)", announced by the Government of J&K, will offer
'Entrepreneurship Development Programme/s (EDPs)' which apart from sensitization,
training and consultancy shall include an incentive in the form of
nonrefundable Seed Money to the eligible prospective entrepreneurs to kick
start their ventures and make their projects bankable. This scheme has been
named as Seed Capital Fund Scheme.
YOTH STARTUP LOAN SCHEME
Under
this new Scheme, projects with an investment upto Rs. 8.00 lacs will be
considered for financing with 90% project cost as loan component and 10% as
beneficiary contribution. However, in respect of projects with higher
investment, the beneficiary contribution will be project cost less by 90% of
the loan amount subject to a maximum of Rs. 8.00 lacs.
HIMAYAT
An initiative of Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of
India, implemented by Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development
Institute (JKEDI) with Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI)
Ahmedabad, as coordinating /monitoring agency, aims at providing
entrepreneurial skills for sustainable livelihood to 30,000 youth of J&K
and facilitate access to finance and support services to at least 50% of them
over a period of 4 Years.
